about metta

That shift in focus transformed her work - improving the quality, deepening the purpose + the impact.

Her treatments stopped being something she did and became something she gave.

Confidence replaced insecurity.

Presence accompanied pressure.

Metta became the heart of her practice.
the beginning
Early in her massage therapy career, Jennifer learned about the Buddhist concept of Metta [loving-kindness]. Metta is a cultivated mental state in which one's attention is directed towards the well-being of others.
It changed everything.

Instead of focusing on technique, pressure, or performance, she began placing her intention into one quiet idea: what if the practice of Metta could be applied in my work?

a home for metta
During a walk in 2013, Jennifer noticed a red-brick building in Toronto’s Upper Beaches + immediately fell in love.
She took a photo of it + saved it.
Six years later, a Kijiji listing appeared for that very building.
What followed was a leap of faith supported by her husband Jay: the calm, numbers-loving, behind-the-scenes partner who helped turn a dream into a real, thriving space.
In early 2020, Metta opened its doors, and just weeks later, the world shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But with an unwavering vision + the support of the community, it grew.

It became a refuge for those craving safety, comfort, human connection + a momentary escape from the world.

And now, as we begin our sixth year of business, we have a team of carefully selected practitioners + five treatment rooms.

our philosophy
Our approach combines clinical skill + regulated, professional care in a space designed to support your nervous system.

Clinical excellence matters. Presence + intention make it more meaningful.

Our space blends regulated, evidence-based care with comfort for the senses.

Soft lighting. Warm towels.. Gentle details that let the nervous system exhale.

No fuss, no pretension - just thoughtful design that supports rest and healing.
In a world that often feels chaotic, rushed, or impersonal, our practitioners offer presence, skill + genuine human connection.
We will never treat you like a number.
